Volunteering

Volunteering at Saheli has given me so much confidence. Having lived in the refuge, I wanted to give something back. I have been volunteering for Saheli for last two years and it has been a very rewarding experience. I have learned so much, my confidence has grown and I have made new friends.
Refuge Volunteer – 2015

Saheli’s Volunteer Project is run and managed by our Volunteer Co-ordinator. We have successfully supported local women and students as well as ex-service users to access our Volunteer’s Project.

Volunteers are linked up by Saheli’s Volunteer Coordinator, so they get support, supervision and the right training to enhance their skills. Volunteers are also informed of appropriate job opportunities and local training, including being signposted to attend various job fairs and employment advice sessions.

In addition, we also deliver training for volunteers and service users on First Aid, Confident Parenting, and CV Writing & Job Searching.

The current volunteer opportunities we have are:

  • Student placements
  • Volunteering in the office
  • Volunteering supporting group work
  • Volunteering in our fundraising group ‘Friends of Saheli’
  • Volunteering in our finance and administration department
