Many of our service users are keen to move-on in life. Many have talents that they would like to use to develop business, some would like to go into further education and many wanted to learn new skills and find a job.
Saheli as an organization was also looking at developing a social enterprise to generate income for the organisation.
After consultation with service users, staff, volunteers and management committee, it was decided that we would set up a social enterprise to help women to get hands on experience in catering industry, create jobs and generate income.
Zesty Cuisine, our social enterprise was set up with support from Oxfam GB and Equalities Fund. The project has grown and we looking at expanding the business.
The project has trained survivors of domestic abuse to get involved into meaningful employment and fine work.
