Weekly women’s group sessions are facilitated in different location in Manchester. The group work is for women fleeing or experiencing domestic violence, honour based violence and forced marriage. Savera Group is a project to raise awareness and to empower BME Women. Many of these women may be facing mental health issues due to the domestic abuse they have experienced. Many women are very isolated, lack confidence, have low self esteem and often have a language barrier. The aim of this group is to develop their emotional and mental well-being by providing them with relevant information, enhance their skills and knowledge and to support them, so they can contribute positively in the community.
Structured programmes are delivered in partnership with different agencies to help women understand effects of domestic abuse and how to do safety planning. Sessions are planned taking into consideration the needs of the women.
To achieve this we have worked with numerous organisations to deliver informative sessions on various issues. In the last twelve months, we have organised several sessions to raise the awareness and to improve the health and well-being of our attendees. These include:
Healthy Eating | Alternative Therapies | Sexual Health | Fire Safety at Home
Confidence & Self-Esteem | Assertiveness and Anger Management/ Domestic Abuse
We also offer counselling support in Urdu and Punjabi in partnership with Salford University.
