Maya Project

The Manchester Maya Project

The Manchester Maya Project is a partnership of 8 organisations: Saheli, Ananna, Wai Yin Society, Himmat, Women’s Voices, Wonderfully Made Woman, CDMUK and Bauer Academy working together to support BAMER women and girls.

The project is funded by The National Lottery Community Fund.

The Maya project was set up as a joint partnership, to enable us to come together to jointly work towards providing support services to the vulnerable BAMER women throughout Manchester. The MAYA project was started in July 2016, Saheli is the lead organisation of the MAYA project working with the other partners using a collaborative approach to support Black, Asian, minority ethnic and refugee women and girls in Manchester.

The project supports and assists BAMER women in need of the service who are in crisis situations, need support and advocacy in accessing help and support, and a foundation where they can develop aspirations and achieve dreams. The partnership delivers over 32 services per week to BAMER women and girls and continues to promote its services throughout Manchester.
